Limited edition replicas of Andy Warhol’s screenprinted Converse

Like his t-shirts that Andy silkscreened in his studio in the 80s, the Chuck Taylors similarly were another medium of Andy’s multidimensional creative process that he executed as personal projects. The original Chuck Taylors circa 1984-1986, are part of Warhol's permanent collection. The screens he used on the Chuck Taylors are from a various series of subjects he was working on at that time, specifically the black/white ads (c.1985-1986) and Campbell’s soup box (1985) paintings. Using a pair of his own Chuck Taylors as the canvas, Warhol applied various hand-screened graphics he was working with at the time in conjunction with paintings, prints and drawings - from motorcycles to cold war maps. The replicas were produced by hand, taking blank Chuck Taylors and applying Andy Warhol's original screen printing technique.
